The deadline for travel award applications has passed.

SEERS is offering up to five student travel awards of $150 each to qualifying students attending and presenting at the Spring 2017 Joint SEERS/Benthic Ecology meeting at Myrtle Beach, SC, on April 12-16, 2017. The SEERS portion of the meeting is April 13-15, 2017. Applicants must attend at least the SEERS portion of the meeting to be eligible for the award. To qualify for a student travel award, students must:

Be enrolled at a college or university for the Spring 2017 semester;

Be a SEERS member in good standing for 2017;

Be registered for the Spring 2017 meeting and have submitted an abstract for presentation (oral or poster) at the meeting;

Submit a SEERS Student Travel Award Application Form with attached abstract by February 20, 2017 at 5:00 PM. All information on the application form must be complete. Your advisor’s signature must be on the application. Failure to meet these criteria will disqualify the student from a travel award.

Please note that only one award can be granted per presentation. Also, students receiving awards must be present to give their presentation at the published time. For posters, the official presentation time will be the time during which posters are being judged regardless of whether the poster is entered in the student competition. If more applications are received than the number of grants available, the selection process will be based on the quality of the application and submitted abstract, with preference given to students who can demonstrate a clear financial need and have not won an award in the past.

Recipients of the travel awards will be notified by February 25, 2017, and are encouraged to attend the SEERS Business Meeting to receive their checks.
